Ma. Romana Baquiran-Austria (Ning) was born on January 20, 1954 in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, Northern Luzon in the Philippines. While she was in grade school, Ning moved to Manila where she later attended and graduated from Ramon Magsaysay High School. Ning continued her post-secondary education at the Far Eastern University where she completed her Bachelor of Science in Commerce – Major in Marketing.

In, 1977, Ning immigrated to Montreal, Quebec with her family. In 1982, Ning and her family moved to Scarborough, Ontario. There, she gained employment at Sears, Canada in their Accounting Department. Ning also worked for other companies until her retirement in January 2020.

In 2009, Ning became a member at SOSA and was later elected as a Press Relations Officer for 9 years. Ning is also responsible for all weekly sessions and all-party requirements.

​

During her spare time, Ning loves to sing, cook, dance and enjoys travelling with family and friends. Additionally, Ning loves spending time with her sons Christopher and Ben (Leah) and her grandchildren Melissa; 22, Lianne; 19 and Aidan; 15.
